78th Great Swabian Art Exhibition

28.11.2026 – 29.03.2027 at Kunsthalle Augsburg im Glaspalast

For decades, the Great Swabian Art Exhibition has been one of the most important forums for contemporary art in Bavarian Swabia. With its 78th edition, it continues this vibrant tradition and once again offers a comprehensive insight into the region’s current artistic scene.

From November 28, 2026, through March 29, 2027, the Kunsthalle Augsburg will present selected works by Swabian artists, showcasing the diversity of contemporary artistic practices. The exhibition will feature works in a wide variety of media and forms of expression—ranging from painting, printmaking, and sculpture to photography, as well as installation and media-based formats.

Hall 2, or “H2,” at the Kunsthalle Augsburg provides the ideal setting for this exhibition. With its spacious exhibition areas, it creates a space for encounters with contemporary art and fosters exciting dialogues between the artwork, the space, and the audience.

The selection of participating artists and the works to be exhibited will take place as part of a jury review at the end of October 2026. Only then will it be determined which works will be included in the exhibition. The Great Swabian Art Exhibition sees itself as an open forum for art from the region: Artists from all over Swabia can submit their works and have them evaluated by an independent jury of experts.

The 78th Great Swabian Art Exhibition will thus once again be far more than a mere showcase of works. It offers a multifaceted panorama of current artistic developments, opens up perspectives on social issues, and invites visitors to engage with the diverse forms of expression found in contemporary art.
As part of the exhibition, the City of Augsburg Art Prize will once again be awarded. In addition, the “VIERMALDREI” Art Prize for Young Art—newly established by the KUNSTSTIFTUNG Grzabka-Palm—will be awarded for the first time, specifically to promote and honor emerging artistic voices.

You are cordially invited to the exhibition opening on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11 a.m.!
