Augsburger Geschmack ("The Augsburg Taste") Baroque master drawings from the holdings of the art collections

During the Baroque and Rococo periods, Augsburg was one of the leading centres of art in Europe. In the late 18th century, the term ‘Augsburg taste’ was coined to describe the Rococo style, which was particularly characterised by Augsburg artists - a synonym that was used pejoratively by supporters of the then emerging classicist style. 

However, this term has long since lost its negative connotation - and gives rise to the title of an exhibition that presents well over 100 treasures from the Graphic Art Collection from the 17th and 18th centuries. In addition to the artists of the Free Imperial City of Augsburg - including Johann Rottenhammer, Johann Ulrich Mayr and Johann Georg Bergmüller - it also takes a look at the wider German-speaking world and thus provides a comprehensive insight into the art of drawing of this period.
