Homestories: Augsburg Looks to Venice
13.11.2026 – 29.03.2027 at the Museum's Café of the Schaezlerpalais
Through our Homestories exhibition series, residents of Augsburg offer a glimpse into their living rooms and showcase their art treasures. One Augsburg collector has dedicated himself to Venice, the former metropolis on the Adriatic Sea that served as the center of European trade for centuries. Jakob Fugger maintained a branch office in the Fondaco dei Tedesci, which was a key component of his wealth.
The collection presents paintings, prints, and coins from the lagoon city in a wide variety of forms. On display are views of St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, as well as individual palazzi and maps. The collection is not merely documentary in nature; it also reveals artistic dimensions.
You are cordially invited to the opening on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the Museum's Café of the Schaezlerpalais.
