Philipp Röth (1841–1921)Picturesque Landscapes Between Late Romanticism and Impressionism
25.09.2026 – 12.02.2027 at Grafisches Kabinett
Philipp Röth, a painter and draftsman born in Darmstadt, was initially a student at the Karlsruhe Academy before working in Düsseldorf between 1864 and 1870. He then moved to Munich, where he created landscapes of great atmospheric depth, primarily in the Dachauer Moos. Röth is a significant representative of the Paysage intime as developed by the Barbizon School in France in the mid-19th century. His landscape paintings mark the transition from Romantic idealization to the observation of nature throughout the seasons.
We cordially invite all interested parties to the opening on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., in the ballroom of the Schaezlerpalais.
