Small worlds - toys in the old daysThe fascination of model railroading - Märklin 1-gauge railroads
29.11.2024-23.02.2025 at Maximilianmuseum
Every year at Christmas time, the Maximilian Museum invites visitors to enter the enchanting world of historical toys. This year there is a special edition with the legendary model railroads of the tinplate era by Märklin (1891-1936).
Selected locomotives, 1-gauge passenger and freight cars from the golden age of Märklin railroads will be on display. From the first clockwork trains, which were presented at the Leipzig Trade Fair in 1891, to the later, technically sophisticated models with real steam engines and innovative electric motors, the history of this fascinating miniature world is brought to life. All the exhibits, including stations and a wide range of accessories, come from a private collection in Augsburg.
