Small worlds – Children's dreams then and now

28.11.2025-08.02.2026 at Maximilianmuseum

During the Advent and Christmas season, the Maximilian Museum traditionally presents historical toys. What once delighted children and certainly adults too can be marvelled at in the showroom on the 2nd floor. Large and small dolls in splendid costumes, kitchens, parlours and small pieces of furniture that were modelled exactly on those from the adult world.

This time, some new items - loans and donations from private collections - are on display, including toys from more recent times. One new addition is a large collection of Z-gauge locomotives and carriages from Märklin (mini-club). They are used on guided tours with the hands-on activity ‘It's your turn!’.
