Jiri Jiroutek – Strange Landscape

The Louny-born photographer Jiri Jiroutek creates landscapes of great clarity and precision. His gaze captures underlying structures in nature, which to a certain extent form the framework of our world. In his photographic works he finds geometric abstractions, which he distils from the landscape tableaus in a painterly manner. Details play just as important a role as horizon lines, mountain ranges or cloud formations. However, Jiroutek also sees nature from the perspective of distance and proximity and thus also captures the vastness of the landscape in the photographic detail. Jiri Jiroutek's photographic works oscillate between representationalism and abstraction.
The exhibition takes place within the framework of DIALOG, the German-Czech cultural days with Augsburg's twin city Liberec.
