Augmented (Hi) StoriesP8 Contemporary Art Gallery, Tel Aviv

NEW: Until 10/01 at Neuen Galerie im Höhmannhaus

In a first step of an exchange between the P8 Contemporary Art Gallery and the Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus, we are pleased to present eleven contemporary artists from Israel. The P8 cooperative gallery was founded in 2008 in Jaffa as a non-profit organization. The idea of creating artistic synergies is at the core of the group's activities, whose members contribute to the local art scene through various initiatives. Their project Augmented (Hi)Stories is the collective's first group exhibition outside Israel and also their first participation in a German museum institution.

It revolves around the theme of History as ‘histoire’, as a form of storytelling, which incorporates personal accounts into larger narratological structures. Taken as whole, it allows for a timely survey of some of the themes that preoccupy Israeli artists today, under the conceptual umbrella of ‘History’, be it the echoes of the European past, current political struggles, or the history of photography.

Participating artists: Lee Barbu, Roni Ben Porat, Ruth Biger, Netta Dror, Inon Khalfon, Naama Klaiman, Mor Kleiner, Sally Krysztal, Tamar Lev-On, Ronit Mirsky, Carmela Weiss.

Curator P8 Gallery: Avshalom Suliman
Curator Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus: Thomas Elsen

A warm invitation to the opening with live performance to all interested parties on Wednesday, 7 June, at 6 pm!
